"The Pitts"

My Dad lives beside an airport owned by one of his good friends, Jimmy Wade. Mr. Jimmy is an amazing pilot and can fly anything! There's a plane in the airport called "The Pitts" and it's strickly an aerobatics plane. I have been dying to go for a ride for over a year and last weekend I finally got the chance!

For thirty minutes we did nothing but flips, barrel rolls, hammer heads, and 8-point rolls! To ride you have to wear a parachute and be instructed about how to depart the plane in case there is an emergency. I usually don't get nervous about stuff like that but when Mr. Jimmy was telling me what straps to unlock and what cords to pull (below), I started praying silently!

I posted these pictures on Facebook and someone asked me if I was flying the plane since I was in the front seat haha! Absolutely not! It's controlled from the back seat and they want the passenger to have to best view of course!

Throughout the ride, Mr. Jimmy would ask me how I felt and I kept telling him I felt good. I never once felt sick while in the air but once we landed I felt queasy for about an hour! It was definitely worth it though! I can't wait to ride again!

God is Good

As most of you know I made the grade I had to make to get into transition! What a relief! It's not a good feeling when everything is riding on one test! But God knows what He's doing. I started transition clinicals this week (10 hours every Monday & Tuesday) and it has been tough. My whole body hurts when I get home and I have no energy to do anything. Thankfully I only have 5 clinical days, 3 tests, and 2 lectures to go! But I'm not counting or anything.. Thank you so much for all of your prayers!

Prayers Needed!

I have a HUGE test coming up (April 4th) and I need HUGE prayers sent my way. The test really isn't any bigger than any of my other test but it's carrying a lot of weight! We have four test before transition (the big step before graduation) and out of those four test we have to have a 78 average to go! Below a 78 average means returning to Hinds in the Fall to graduate in December, boo! I can't handle another semester. So.. I have to make above an 88 on this next test to have 78 average to continue on to transition. The last test really set me back, only 12 out of 41 people passed and I wasn't one of the 12! Anyway, please pray for me as I prepare for this test!

Weddings, Weddings, Weddings!

Before being a part of my aunt's wedding in August I had not been to any weddings that I could remember anything about. I was always in weddings growing up but I was too young to even care what was going on. Well I definitely got my fair share in the last 7-8 months! Lara (my aunt) was married in August, John and I in December, John's sister Courtney in February, and my sister Rachel in March! It has been madness for sure. Although I enjoyed them all I'm SO glad they're all over as is everyone in our family! Here are some pictures from the special events!

I'm back!

Boring life + no time = terrible blogger! There hasn't been anything interesting going on lately so I haven't felt the need to blog! School is working my tail off. There is rarely a time where I have nothing to do. This is my last week before spring break and it's jam-packed with clinicals, tests, lectures, and projects. Pray for me.. and John for that matter. I have absolutely nothing planned for spring break and that in itself excites me. I've really been missing my family lately. I hardly ever see them, and when I do I'm constantly feeling guilty because I should be studying for something! Come on May 12th! Hopefully I'll be back soon with something interesting to blog about. But it's back to the books for now!

Flying with Daddy

For as long as I can remember my dad has wanted to get his pilot's license, and a couple of weeks ago, he did just that! After many hours in the air and many nights studying, he passed his final check ride! I was sooo proud of him! Last Sunday he flew to Vicksburg to take me for a ride with no instructor in the passenger seat. Here are a few pictures from our flight!

Bethany came along for the ride!

It was so much fun and a much needed break from studying. I'm so happy he's doing something he loves! I love you, Daddy!

This is IT!

I have officially made it to my fourth and FINAL semester of nursing school! I always knew I would eventually make it to the end but it has been such a long journey. Last semester almost sent me over the edge and I was seriously considering another career option, even if it meant I had wasted all that time and money. It was just that awful. I'm ashamed to say I doubted myself and God so many times. I put every bit of my time into school and was getting nothing but bad results. I was a nervous wreck the whole semester! I would get physically sick when I had to go to clinical because I had to face a beast of a clinical instructor who looked for ways to make me feel stupid and like such a waste of her time. I finally came to my breaking point. I put it ALL in God's hands. Whatever happened, happened, and I was going to be happy with it no matter the outcome. It all of the sudden seemed so ridiculous to me. No one should feel that nervous, upset, sick, scared to death, over school. No one. Anyway, my whole semester came down to my final exam. I had to make a 78 to pass the semester. Anything less than a 78 would require me to repeat the entire semester. Considering my other test grades, a 78 seemed near impossible for the final, which was everything we had gone over for 4 months. I took the final, I made a 77. Yes, a 77! Really? So I go back to average my grades one last time to see if there is any chance I could pass and to my surprise one of my other test grades had moved up two points. Literally was posted online as an 86 the day before the final and jumped to an 88 the day of the final. No teacher said anything to me about it, there was nothing posted online to say why my grade had changed, nothing! All I knew was my grade had changed and it made it possible for me to pass for the semester. I needed no explanation, that was without a doubt a God thing. When things looked the darkest, He came through for me just like He has every time before. How great is our God? I tear up everytime I think about it! I doubted and doubted and doubted Him and I was getting terrible results. When I finally put it in His hands, He came through and made a way for me when it looked impossible.

I say all of that to say, this semester will be different. I will not be miserable every single day because I am worried about what will happen. I know without a doubt I have the creator of the universe on my side and He will provide a way. The battle is already won, all I have to do is trust Him!

One of my favorites:

Without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone that comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek him. Hebrews 11:6
