Nine Months

Emmy, you are 9 months old!!!
Our last single digit month ever :(

These pictures crack me up!!! You are such a character! You have recently become obsessed with sticking your tongue out. Silly girl!

You are a busy bee these days. You are crawling everywhere and pulling up some too. You have learned how to wave bye-bye, play patty cake, clap anytime we say "yay!!!", and shake your head "no." It's the sweetest thing ever! I am so amazed at how quickly you pick up on things. Your bye-bye wave is the cutest; you flap your entire arm!

Mama took you shoe shopping for the first time this month. We had so much fun! We left with a pair of sparkly Bobs and some brown Robeez.

We went to the Delta again this month. It was Aunt B's birthday so we had a cookout at the airport. We love anytime we get to spend with out of town family. I'm always impressed with how well you do when you're not in your "normal" environment. You've been so easy on us!

We missed a lot of football games this month for various reasons but we did get to attend MRA's 'pink out' game in support of breast cancer awareness.
We left at half-time so we could get back home for bedtime but MRA ended up pulling out a 'W' over Washington School!

Gigi, Pawpaw, Aunt Courtney, and Cousin Katie came over one weekend to play with you! I love watching you and Katie play together. Y'all will be best pals one day!

9 Month Stats:
Weight: 21 lbs (90th%)
Length: 29.25 in. (95th%)

Eating: You still have the same schedule as last month except we added more fruit at breakfast and more veggies at lunch. We tried puffs and yogurt melts this month and you loved them! I got the cutest video of your first few tries at "chewing." You still don't have any teeth so you look like a little old lady trying to gum those puffs. Since you were doing so well with the puffs, I decided to try a mashed up steamed carrot one day. You love pureed carrots so I assumed you would do fine. Not so much, you gagged and threw up all over you highchair tray. We'll try again in a few weeks!

Sleeping: Still great! You're asleep by 8:15/8:30 and we wake you up around 6:30 for school. On the weekends you let us sleep in until 7:30 or 8 :)

Sizes: Size 3 diapers and size 3 nighttime diapers. Mostly 9 month clothing but some 12 month clothing already fits. Still in 9 month footed pajamas. Size 2/3 shoe, depending on the brand.

Play: You're still loving your cookie jar shape sorter, mostly the blocks that go with it! You love to bang them together and throw them. You like to sit on your knees and pull the toys out of your toy bin. You really love the dogs and look at them when I ask you where they are. You're saying a lot of "Dada, Mama/Nana, Bababa, and NooNoo (you scrunch your little nose up when you say this and it's the funniest thing!)"

This is part of your Halloween costume. I was testing it out and trying to get you to look at me so I could send a picture to Daddy but you wouldn't even cut your eyes at me. You're going to be the cutest little lady bug ever!
Getting some Dada lovin'
We went to Cleveland for my friend, Rachael's, wedding shower and we brought along. Everyone just ate you up!

Eight Months

Happy 8 Months my little love bug!
You are growing too fast for this Mama!

Pictures were exceptionally tough this month; you are on the move and there is NO stopping you!

This has been a really fun month with lots of 'firsts'!

You took your first ride in the front of the shopping cart..
You loved it, of course!

You went to your first football game to support your Daddy..

He ate. this. up. He has talked about bringing you to the football field since I found out I was pregnant. Sweet memories..

You took your first ride in your new big girl car seat..
You are the best little car rider and always have been! The car immediately puts you to sleep. I'm so thankful for this since we have quite the commute everyday.

And you got to swing for the first time..

This was my old swing when I was little. Mamaw gave it to me to give to you!

You also had your first real baby sitters this month. Nathan and Leanne Stamper came over to watch you one evening while Mama and Daddy went out to dinner with some football parents. It was the first time one of us had not put you to bed at night :( You got a good report though, they said you were great!

That's too many milestones for one month, missy! :)

I don't have any stats this month but I would guess around 19-20 lbs. You definitely seem longer!

You had a week-long viral rash this month. It was apparently going around daycare because several of your little friends got it too. You never ran any fever, you just had these little red bumps all over your body that got worse when you got hot. Daddy and I both took off two half days and Gigi came to stay with you one day too.

Eating: You dropped another bottle this month. You now take 4 bottles per day: 1 (7oz) in the morning and 3 (6 oz) the rest of the day. You're still eating solids three times per day as well. Your daycare feeding schedule usually looks like this:

6:30 a.m - 7 oz bottle (at home)
8:30 a.m. - 1 fruit
10:30 a.m.- 6 oz bottle
11:30/12:00- 1 veggie
2:30 p.m.- 6 oz bottle
5:30 p.m. - sippy cup of water on our way home
6:15/6:30 p.m.- 2 veggies, sometimes 1 veggie/1 fruit
8:00 p.m. - 6 oz bedtime bottle

On the weekends or whenever we're home together the times are slightly different but we usually get the same things in.

You have now tried all the 1st and 2nd baby foods. You really love everything except the green beans and peas but I can usually sneak them in another food without you noticing. A few favorites: sweet potatoes, carrots, mixed vegetable, bananas, & apples.

Still no teeth in sight! I jokingly say we're going to have to get you some dentures!

Sleeping: Still sleeping great! Usually in bed by 8:15 and asleep by 8:30. Still taking 2 good naps. You really love your crib. When we go to put you down at night, you reach for it. We still put you in your sleep sack and give you your lovie.

Sizes: Size 3 diapers and size 3 nighttime diapers. I thought we would be out of size 3 nighttime diapers by now but I think your weight gained slowed down a little since you're all over the place. Still wearing all 9 month clothing and we just moved to 9 month footed pajamas.

Play: As I mentioned earlier, you are on the move! You CAN crawl but you prefer to scoot because you are a super fast scooter. You love to get into things you're not suppose to such as the coffee table and the fireplace. I can tell you "No no Emory" as you are headed for the coffee table and you just start laughing and scooting faster towards it. You still love your pink bear. You are really loving your shape sorter cookie jar this month. You love to put the blocks in and take them out as well as bang them together. You love anything with a tag. We have this little taggie toy that someone gave us before you were born and you absolutely love it. You love to suck on the tags for some reason. You're still saying "Dada" all the time and you now say "Nana" when you're tired or fussy. I assume "Nana" is me because you don't have a "Nana" and it's pretty close to "Mama." I'll take whatever I can get!

Here are some other pictures from this month:

We went to the Delta for a quick overnight visit and you got to see all but one of your great-grandparents which is such a treat! Pop even took you on your first four-wheeler ride!

Great Grandmother Jewel

Great Mamaw and Papaw

Great Poppy
You kept laying your head on his chest and trying to pull off his glasses. (Nanny was there too we just didn't get a picture with her)

This has been the best 8 months of our lives! We love more than we ever thought possible. You are such a blessing and our lives are better because of you.
We love you precious girl!

Emory Gets Tubes

Last Friday, 8/23/13, Emory got her first (and hopefully last) set of PE tubes!
We knew it was inevitable because of the numerous double ear infections she's had.
We arrived at 6:00 a.m. to get checked in, paperwork filled out, and gown/bracelets on. I was SO nervous she would be upset because she wasn't allowed to have anything to eat or drink after midnight the night before. My girl loves to eat so I was sure she would be pitching a fit. She never whined or cried once! She played with her toys and while waiting on Dr. Sneed to come talk to us, she fell asleep on her Daddy.
It was a horrible feeling when they took her away from us but before we knew it (literally 15 minutes tops) they were calling us to come back and get her. As they warned us, she was really fussy when she came out of anesthesia. And really there was nothing I could do for her. She was able to have some apple juice which made things a little better but she was still fighting me and crying. It only lasted about 10-15 minutes before she fell asleep for good. She slept on the way home and took a good 45 minute nap in her bed once we got home. She was irritable throughout most of the day but slept all night in her bed and woke up the next morning perfectly happy.
We're so thankful it's over and all went well.
Praise the Lord!
Now if only we can keep the ear infections away!

Seven Months

Sweet girl, you are 7 months old!
You need to slow down, your Mama can't keep up!

What a fun month it has been! At your sixth month check up, Dr. E gave us the ok to start some solid foods! I was SO excited about this because I knew you would love it! And I was right! So far you've tried squash, sweet potatoes, carrots, green beans, peas, apples, bananas, and pears. You LOVE all the orange veggies but hate the green beans and peas. You're not really crazy about the fruit either which really surprised me. I think it's just a little too bitter right now. Here's a few pictures from our first tries!

It only took a few days and you were a pro! We also got you a big girl highchair this month! We started out feeding you in the bumbo but quickly realized that wasn't going to cut it! We tested out a sippy cup this month, too. You acted like you had been using it since birth, no trouble at all!
You're sitting up completely unassisted now! We're so proud of you! You absolutely love playing on the floor; daycare says it's your favorite place to be when you're there. You have gotten on all fours several times but have yet to go anywhere. I'm not sure I'm ready for that just yet, haha!

Did I ever mention how much you LOVE your Daddy?!? You think he is so funny! I love to watch you two interact. Sweetest. thing. ever. You love him so much, you decided to make "Dada" your FIRST word! Even after weeks of me coaching you to say "Mama." All we hear these days is "Dadadadadada" and your Daddy eats it up!
Stats:
The last stats we got were at your sixth month checkup:
Weight: 18lbs 11oz (90%)
Length: 27.25 in (98%)

Eating: You're eating 6oz of Alimentum every 3.5-4 hours (5 bottles per day). I dropped the 6:30 p.m. bottle you use to get when we got home from daycare and replaced it with solids!

Sleep: You're back to being a rock star sleeper. Since We dropped that 6:30 bottle, we put you to bed a little earlier now. We start our bedtime routine about 7:45 and you're usually asleep by 8:30 and sleep until we wake you up in the mornings for daycare. On the weekends you will usually wake up around 7-7:30 a.m.You're still napping great in your crib too! You'll usually take 2 good naps per day and sometimes a cat nap in between those. We're so so thankful for a great sleeper!

Sizes: Size 3 diapers and size 3 nighttime diapers. Wearing all 9 month clothing except your footed pajamas which are still 6 months.

Play: You still love your jumperoo. You especially love to kick back and watch "Baby First" in it (see below)!
Other favorite toys include: pink bear, Sophie, and vibrating strawberry teether.
Here are some other pictures from this month:
Waiting for Dr E at your 6 month check up.
One of the shots made a really big whelp this time. I'm so glad we're done with shots for a little while!
Aunt B came to stay one weekend. You had so much fun playing with her!
You took your first ride in the front of the stroller. I think you like this view much better :)
Being silly during bath time. You're such a water baby!
I love my little frog!!!
Pop picked you up from daycare for the first time and when I got home your hair was in a pony tail. I thought Pop did it but he said the ladies at daycare got tired of you pulling your bow out, haha! So here is your first little pony tail!

 Playing naked before bath time.

Happy 7 months sweet love!
Mama and Daddy love you so much!
