Gender/Name Reveal

We knew we wanted tell our immediate families in person, it's just more fun that way! We all met at Rusty's in Vicksburg for dinner. I decided the easiet thing was to get cupcakes made with the "pink or blue" filling in the middle for everyone to bite into at one time.

After we got our drinks and ordered we brought out the cupcakes. Before passing them out we took a vote. Out of 12 people we had 10 boy votes and 2 girl votes! (My dad and step dad were the girl votes)

We counted to three and everyone took a bite! My sister, Bethany, yelled "It's a girl!" before anyone else could get it out! There was lots of excitment!

Immediately everyone wanted to know her name. We revealed her name would be...

EMORY ELIZABETH

Although we had a few favorites, we hadn't really talked about girl names much because we just knew it would be a boy. We loved the name Emory and Elizabeth went well with it and it's my middle name so we were set!

It's a Baby....

GIRL!!!!!

At our 3rd OB appointment I was 15 weeks 6 days. I knew if we did a sonogram at this point (assuming baby cooperated) we could find out the sex. I wasn't scheduled for a sonogram that day but thought I would ask my Doctor nicely if we could get a sneak peak. I had kind of prepared myself for him to say no so I wouldn't be disappointed if he did but he ended up having no problem with it! For starters John and I thought from the very beginning this baby was a boy. So much so we called it by the boy name we had picked out, ha! There was no real reason why we thought that, we both just pictured our first being a little boy, but of coarse didn't care either way! When the sono tech said it's a girl I almost fell off the table and John's face was priceless!
They did the majority of the anatomy scan but she was such an active little thing (and it was a bit early) they couldn't see her cord very well or get a good picture of her face. They told me I could come back around 18 weeks for another scan which was fine with me! Here are some pictures from both scans. The first one is from 15w6d and the rest are 18w1d.

We are SO excited about this sweet little girl and can't wait to see what she has in store for us!

First Trimester: Weeks 1-13

I had great intentions of taking weekly pictures to document Baby Weaver's growth but the first trimester hit me like a ton of bricks and pictures were the last thing I felt like doing - although now I seriously regret it! So I thought I'd just document some things I remember and start doing better about weekly/monthly pictures.

At 6 weeks I started feeling nauseous. It started out just in the evenings but gradually (within the next few days) became an ALL day affair. I would try to keep something on my stomach at all times like everyone suggest but who wants to eat anything when you feel nauseated?! Plus I had terrible food aversions so coming up with something that sounded good was tough. Things I loved I suddenly couldn't stand such as sweet tea, Mexican food, any kind of meat, plain water, and eggs. I tried to take medication (Zofran, Phenergan) but to me the side effects of the meds were worse than the actual nausea so I dealt with it (threw up multiple times daily) the best I could. I have to give major props to my hubby who cooked, cleaned, grocery shopped, brought me whatever I needed (since I was bound to the couch/bed), and took care of the pups. I'm so incredibly thankful for him!

Thankfully by the end of the first trimester (really by the end of 14 weeks) things were looking up! I would only get sick if I didn't eat and my food aversions were SO much better. I am so grateful it didn't last the entire pregnancy and am looking forward to an easier second trimester!

Easter 2012 - Part I

We started off our Easter celebration Saturday at my Mamaw and Papaw's house in Fitler. It's so peaceful at their house. It's surrounded by fields, cell phones rarely work, and there is no internet- I love it!

There's only two kiddos but they had fun hunting Easter eggs!
