Jackson Zoo

We took Emory to the Jackson Zoo for the first time this past weekend. We were a little skeptical because it's not in a great part of town but overall we had a blast! Emory loved all the animals and called them all dogs, ha!

Love my little family :)

14 Months

I'm not continuing "monthly pictures" but I did want to write down a few things so I'll remember in the future! Emory is changing and learning something new everyday! It blows my mind!
Shortly after her first birthday we started transitioning to whole milk. We started just adding 1 oz to her bottle and continued until she was completely off of formula. It only took about a week and she never had the first problem. She thinks whole milk is great and so does our pocket book :). After we mastered whole milk we decided to go cold turkey with the bottle.. Emory never looked back! It was so easy and this Mama was so thankful!

Emory has continued to do really well with her "daycare food" transition! She will eat just about anything these days! Some of her favorites: carrots, apples, kiwi, puffs, yogurt, cereal bars, cheese, cheese toast, milk, and water. She's not a juice fan and that's perfectly fine with me!

A few weeks after her first birthday this girl became a full time walker!!! Now, at 14 months, she's a runner, haha! She thinks she is SO big!

Emory LOVES to be outside! We have really been enjoying her red wagon and her coop car she got for Christmas! If we're not out riding she likes to just walk in yard. Her vocabulary has increased a lot too! She can say: uh oh, thank you, hey, Mama, Dada, dog, bye-bye, and no no - all at appropriate times. She waves hey and bye, blows kisses, shakes her finger no no, and throws her hands up when we say "Touchdown!" She's still been hitting some but it's mostly me and John, sometimes herself. We're working on it and practice being "gentle" a lot, ha! The girl loves to "read" and carries her books all over the house. She also loves any stuffed animal or baby doll and is obsessed with taking her shoes and socks off!

Emory did move to the Creeper room at daycare! We were super sad to leave the nursery because those ladies have loved on our girl so well but we're excited to start a new chapter! The transition didn't go as smoothly as I'd hoped. It took several weeks before there weren't any tears but we're adjusted and all is well. A few changes the new room brought:
-She only naps once, usually from 11:00-1:30
-She naps on a COT! Yes, those ladies somehow get 9 toddlers to lay down all at once and sleep for 2+ hours on a cot.. Amazing!
-She eats breakfast, lunch, and has two snacks in the afternoons
-They have story time everyday and do one craft everyday- Oh how I love bringing home those sweet crafts :)
We were so very pumped that Peyton Manning was playing in the Super Bowl this year. We loaded up and headed to Aunt Leslie's house to eat and watch the game! I had an old Manning jersey from when he played for Indianapolis so Emmy got to wear it! The game was absolutely terrible but we still believe Pey Pey is #1!

Emory's Winter Onederland

I had so much fun planning Emory's first birthday party! Her birthday is in the dead of winter so it was only fitting to do a cute Winter ONEderland theme!
(Sorry in advance for the abundance of pictures)

My sweet little family :)
 Meme
 Pop's family

My fabulous Mamaw helped so much with the decorations! We're thankful she's so crafty!
 Monthly pictures!
You can't see it very well but the highchair banner says "Emory is One!"
Mamaw made our table tutu!
Snowflake cake and smash cake
 Coffee and Hot Chocolate Bar
Her sweet little pictures hung from the table centerpiece

Party favors were snowflake cookies and the tag read "Thanks for making my birthday Onederful!"

 We love our Mamaw!!!

This girl knew she was the star of the show and she loved EVERY minute of it!

Emory and Marie finally got to play together!
Emory didn't waste anytime digging into her smash cake! She went in with both hands and didn't stop until we took it away, haha!

Oh how I love this picture!

Such a special day with family and friends!!!

Twelve Months

Happy First Birthday, Emory!!!

I know I say it every month but I seriously can't believe a whole year has come and gone. To say this was the best year of our lives would be an understatement! You have brought unbelievable joy to our family since day 1 and we can't imagine life without you!

For your birthday, I took off work after lunch and brought you and your friends snack at school and then took you home early. We went to eat Mexican later that night with some of our coaching friends! We sang happy birthday to you and gave you your very first cupcake--you thought it was the greatest thing ever!

Stats:
Weight: 24lbs, 8oz (95th %)
Height: 30.75 inches (96th %)

Eating: We recently switched you to all daycare food in preparation for your new class. This means we don't provide any food for you, you eat what the "big kids" eat + your formula. I was super nervous you would refuse to eat it but you did SO well! They said you eat absolutely everything! Go Emory!!! You do really well with your sippy cup but you're not too fond of drinking milk out of it. Our next mission is all whole milk and no bottle, stay tuned!

Sleeping: You're still a rock star sleeper! Still sleeping 12+ hours at night and taking 2 (1-2 hour) naps at home.

Sizes: Size 3 diapers, all 12 month clothing but you could totally wear most 18 month too!

What's New:
-You're still not a full time walker although I don't think it will be long!
-Your 3rd tooth just broke through!
-You can say: Dada, Baba, Dog (Pronounced Doog), Mama, & Bye-Bye
-You blow kisses like a champ :)
-You still LOVE bath time and cry when it's time to get out

Emory, we thank God everyday for you! You're such a blessing and the light of our lives!

Happy First Birthday my little love. We love you more than you'll ever know and we can't wait to see what this next year brings!

Love, Mama and Daddy
