Class of 2013

Hard to believe one of my baby brothers is a high-school graduate!
Yes, you counted right, a total of 4 students in the class of 2013. Needless to say, they set a school record!
iPhone pictures aren't the greatest!
Enjoying a little Mexican food after the ceremony
A little sibling love :)

I'm so proud of you Ryan! I have no doubt you'll do great things!
I love you so much!

My First Mother's Day

My request for my first Mother's Day was to do nothing at all! I wanted to stay home with my sweet baby girl and hang out, and that's just what we did!
John cooked me breakfast and gave me the sweetest homemade card from him and Emory. I got my gift early because it was actually my birthday gift too. He got me my first Ronaldo bracelet with Emory's birthstone. I love love love it!
Emory's first artwork from daycare. I had tears in my eyes! Love her sweet teachers!
After breakfast we decided to wash our cars, in OUR driveway! It's the little things people! Emmy hung out in her bouncy and watched.
Later we took a stroll around the neighborhood while Daddy cut grass. This girl loves to stroll and almost always falls asleep.
It was such a beautiful and relaxing day! I am so undeserving of this sweet baby but forever thankful that God picked me to be her Mama.

And I couldn't do a Mother's Day post without mentioning one of the greatest Mama's out there! I truly wouldn't have gotten far without her constant love, advice, and prayers. I love you Mama! Thank you for everything!

Four Months

My sweet Emmy Bug, how are you 4 months old already?!? I'm pretty sure I JUST wrote your 3 month post!

This has been such a fun month, I wish I could just freeze time for a little while! You have developed the funniest personality and I can't get enough of it! You are quite the little chatter box these days; I believe you get this from your Daddy and your Pop. You "talk" non-stop, even the ladies at daycare comment on all your jabbering. Speaking of daycare, it's still going very well! Your teachers just eat you up. It definitely makes Mama feel good knowing you're getting lots of love when I'm not with you. You're still giving out lots of smiles too! You will smile at just about anyone now. You absolutely adore your Daddy. He can make you smile and laugh like no one else can. You rolled from your belly to your back this month! Daddy got to see you do it and tried to get a video but he wasn't quick enough! We were so proud of you!

You had two more double ear infections this month :(. Dr. E said we shouldn't throw in the towel yet but you're too young to have already had three double ear infections, so tubes may be in our near future. Since we were frequent visitors at the doctor's office this month, we got some stats:

Weight: 15lbs 11oz
No height this time!

We go to your 4 month appointment in a week so we'll have better stats then! We sure aren't looking forward to more shots!

On April 30th, 2013 Mama and Daddy bought our first house! We are so glad to be out of the apartment and to have more room for you to play and grow! We can't wait to take you swimming in the neighborhood pool and play with you in the backyard.

Eating: You're still on Similac Alimentum and taking 5oz every 3-4 hours. You rarely make it 4 hours anymore so I feel like we'll be trying out 6oz pretty soon.

Sleep: You're still the greatest sleeper! You go down anywhere from 8:30 - 9:30 and we have to wake you up in the mornings for daycare. You wiggle all over your bed at night and usually end up upside down and on the opposite end of where I put you. We're still very strict with your bedtime routine and I think it helps you so much. You've started to really like your giraffe lovey at bedtime. I put him right by your face while we rock and you just hold him until you fall asleep.

Sizes: You're still in size 2 diapers but I can tell we'll be moving to 3's pretty soon! We did move you to size 3 nighttime diapers because they fit differently than regular diapers. You're now wearing 6 month footed pajamas and a lot of 6 month clothing. You can still wear some 3-6 month clothing, it just depends on the brand.

Play: You are actually playing with toys now. Everything you can get your hands on goes in your mouth! And you're such a drooler! I change your bib 3-4 times per day! One of your favorite toys is your little elephant that your Great Aunt Lara got you. It crinkles and has some rings attached to it and you love him! You also like your O-ball and the "link" rings that I recently got you. You tolerate tummy time much more now because you're able to hold your head way up and see things. We love tickling you and listening to you squeal. I can only imagine how much more fun playtime is going to get.

Here are a few pictures from your 4th month:
Meeting your Great-Great Grandmother for the first time at her 88th birthday party. So thankful you were able to meet her! Not many people get to experience 5 generations! (Not the greatest picture, this was the day before we found out you a had a nasty double ear infection so you were not feeling great!)
Watching a little TV before daycare one morning, with your favorite elephant of coarse.
You and Meme supporting Uncle Ryan at his track meet!
Pictures with Daddy before church
Being so silly during bath time! Still your favorite!
 Big stretches!
Napping with Mama. You're the best napper :)

Happy, happy 4 months sweet angel! We love you more everyday!

Three Months

Emory is three months old!!!

I can't believe how big you've gotten! I can't tell you how many times a week I hear "She looks just like her Daddy!" But I'm ok with it, your Daddy is a pretty handsome guy ;)

We've had a busy month little girl!

I started back to work on March 11th. This was a sad, sad day for Mama. I dreaded this day from the time I got home from the hospital. I love my job but I love being home with you more! It worked out great though. I went back to work the week your Daddy was off for Spring Break so he got to keep you the first week I was away from you which made the transition a lot easier. And I know he enjoyed having you all to himself that week! We decided to do a "practice day" at daycare the Friday before your first full week. We wanted to make sure we knew how long it would take us to get out of the door in the morning and the estimated drive/drop off time. So your first day of daycare was Friday, March 15th (you were 9 weeks old). Mama was SO nervous but you did great! We love your daycare and all the ladies in your room are so sweet with you. The first few weeks were an adjustment for you, I think you were pretty fussy but you quickly got on their schedule and it has made you a better baby at home! You will now nap without Mama having to hold you which is so nice!

You had your first sick doctor visit this month, too. You were really congested and started coughing a lot so we went ahead and took you in. I'm glad we did because you had a double ear infection :(. Since we went to the doctor we got more stats (10 weeks old):

Weight: 13 lbs 10 oz (95th percentile)
Length: 24 inches (95th percentile)
We have a little butterball on our hands!

After 10 days of the antibiotic you still had a little cough so I took you back to the doctor just to make sure your ears had cleared up and thankfully they had. You enjoyed cheesing at everyone in the doctor's office!

Eating: You're still on Alimentum and it has continued to work well for you. You're taking 5 oz every 3-4 hours, anywhere from 25-30 ounces per day! Little piglet!

Sleep: We finally got our video monitor in and you started sleeping in your crib! You were 11 weeks old! You slept the whole night and wiggled all over your bed. We're still doing our bedtime routine (bath, lotion, bottle, swaddle, bed) and usually have you down by 9:30 p.m and we have to wake you up in the mornings around 6:15 a.m. If we could cut out your last bottle we could have you down by 8:00 p.m. but I haven't been brave enough to try it yet!

Sizes: You're still in size 2 diapers but we had to start getting you nighttime diapers because you were waking up with wet pajamas every morning! A lot of your 3 month clothing is getting a little snug. Your 3 month footed pajamas are almost too short- I have to stretch the feet out because your little toes are squished at the ends. There's not a lot of 3-6 month clothing but it definitely fits best.

Play: You're still loving your mirror on your play gym! And you kick your little legs so fast! You have started to grab at some of the toys that dangle above too. You smile all. the. time! Every time I look at you, you'll get the biggest grin on your face. I MELT. You definitely recognize Mama and Daddy! We love waking you up in the mornings because you're so happy but you quickly realize your belly is empty and let us know it's time to eat! Tummy time is still a no go-- you hate it. I've started putting you on your belly propped up on your boppy and you seem to tolerate that a little better. You're holding your head up like a champ. You also like to watch Baby Einstein. Meme got you some DVDs before you were born and you love them!

Some pictures from this month:

Exhausted after your first full day of daycare!
Silly girl! Still loving your bath time!

Happy 3 months Emory!
 We love you!!!!

Easter 2013

We had such a fun Easter! Holidays are so much more fun with a little one!

Saturday we headed to Rolling Fork to see Pop and Lollie. They were working an alumni game at the school so we spent a little time with them before heading to Fitler to my Mamaw's house. Of course Emory stole the show :) She got lots of Easter goodies too (a cute personalized Easter pail and bunny from Meme and Papaw Randy and $20 and another bunny from Great Mamaw and Papaw)! Mommy fail-- I didn't get any pictures.

Sunday we got dressed up for church and couldn't wait for Emory to see what the Easter Bunny brought (not that she even cared, ha)! It was Emory's first time at church too so we were excited! She did perfect, slept right through the whole service. We'll try out the church nursery soon!

After church we drove to Vicksburg to see John's family. We had a nice lunch and just hung out! Emory got a basket full of goodies from Gigi and PawPaw and a cute stuffed bunny from Aunt Marcia and Uncle Frank. She's not spoiled or anything ;)

 Pictures with Mama and Daddy

What was in Emory's first Easter basket? A cute, smocked bubble, Sophie the giraffe (from what I hear it's a favorite teething toy), vibrating teether, baby Einstein music player, and two books.
Someone wasn't thrilled about Easter pictures!
Not the best background but oh well :)

Happy Easter!!!

Two Months

Emory, you are two months old today!

I can't believe another month has gone by so quickly!

We had your two month check up on February 25th (you were just shy of 7 weeks old)!

Stats:
Weight: 11 lbs 11 oz (90th percentile)
Length: 22 3/4 inches (90th percentile)

Although I couldn't wait to see how much you had grown, I dreaded your first set of shots! I made Daddy go with me because I didn't want to be the one to hold you down. It went so much better than I expected. Before you could even cry good I had the bottle in your mouth. I gave you Tylenol afterwards and every 4 hours for the rest of the day and you were fine. Dr. Ellison said you looked perfect!
Waiting patiently to see Dr. Ellison

Daddy giving you a pep talk before your shots!

Poor little hams :(

Eating: We switched formulas again this month. You never seemed content, always fussed, wouldn't nap, and constantly wanted to eat: this Mama knew something was wrong! I called the pediatrician's office and Dr. E seemed to think you may have a little reflux or a cow's milk allergy so we switched your formula to Similac Alimentum and started given you Zantac three times a day. LIFESAVER! You're a completely different baby. I'm just sad it took us this long to figure it out. Besides making you and your little belly happy, there is nothing good about this new milk. It smells awful, taste awful (to me anyway.. you don't seem to mind at all), and is very pricey! You're now eating 5 oz every 3 hours and you are serious about your milk! Girlfriend you LOVE to eat.

Sleep: You're still a great sleeper and we're so thankful for that! You started sleeping consistently through the night at about 7 weeks old. You're still sleeping in our room but we did move you to the pack n play this month. We have a pretty solid bedtime routine that starts around 9 p.m.: bath, lotion, bottle, swaddle, rock, and in bed by 10:30. You still hate your swaddle but I'm convinced it's the only reason you sleep through the night! We're hoping to move you to your crib soon, we're just waiting on our video monitor to come in.

Sizes: We just moved you to size two diapers. You were starting to leak out of your size ones. You're wearing all 3 month clothing and they fit you well.

Play: You have a little mirror above your play gym and you found yourself in it this month. It's the cutest thing I've ever seen! You smile SO big when you see yourself. You love to kick your feet and move your arms all around. You don't like tummy time very much at all but we'll keep trying!

Some pictures from your 2nd month:
Meeting Aunt Michelle and Uncle Michael for the first time!
 You LOVE bath time now!
Eating out at Olive Garden with Gigi, PawPaw, Aunt Marcia, and Uncle Frank
Meeting your Great Grandmother Jewel. She just loved all over you!

 Funniest face and hair ever!
Playing with Mama one morning- you are so happy in the mornings!

Happy 2 months sweet angel! Mama and Daddy love you so very much!
