Baby Showers Part I!

Let me start by saying how BLESSED John and I feel to have such sweet, thoughtful, and loving family and friends! We are overwhelmed by the amount of love we (and baby Emory) have been shown.

Our first little shower was given by some sweet girls from FBC Vicksburg. About 13 of us met at Walnut Hills (yummy!) in Vicksburg to eat and celebrate Miss Emory. I brought my camera but it stayed hanging on the back of my chair- go figure! My friend Margie took all of the pictures so I'll add those when she emails them to me! (No rush Marge!!!) We had such a good time catching up and Emory got lots of fun goodies!! I miss those girls SO much!

One of my best friends, Jennifer, and her Mom hosted another shower for us in Rolling Fork on December 2, 2012. Everything was beautiful!! Most of these pictures are blurry or the lighting is weird but at least I have some!

John Boy came by to load the loot but he had to sneak a picture with his favorite niece first!

The nursing staff at work gave me a quick little shower one Friday afternoon! Wow is all I can say! Such a sweet sweet group of girls! A lot of people couldn't make it because Friday afternoons are so hectic but we had a good time anyway!
Yummy cake!
Emory's one loved little lady :)
One of my favorite outfits! Thanks Aunt Haley!

Whew!!! I'll be back with Part II!

Nursery Progress

Although we live in an apartment we were dead set on painting her room. Knowing we would have to return it to its original color before we left, we chose a very very light pink.

We enlisted the help of John's parents for the task!

We got her bedding from Pottery Barn (on sale!) and her furniture from Babies R Us

The crib converts to a toddler bed and then a full size bed so it will grow with her.

Completed nursery pictures coming soon!

Second Trimester: Weeks 14-27

The second trimester was a breeze compared to the first! No nausea/vomiting, more energy, and back to eating what I wanted! Besides a little heartburn we sailed right through! The highlight, of course, was finding out this sweet baby was a girl and getting started on her nursery!

I still wasn't great keeping up with pictures but we took a few here and there! Here are some random ones from my iPhone.

Gender/Name Reveal

We knew we wanted tell our immediate families in person, it's just more fun that way! We all met at Rusty's in Vicksburg for dinner. I decided the easiet thing was to get cupcakes made with the "pink or blue" filling in the middle for everyone to bite into at one time.

After we got our drinks and ordered we brought out the cupcakes. Before passing them out we took a vote. Out of 12 people we had 10 boy votes and 2 girl votes! (My dad and step dad were the girl votes)

We counted to three and everyone took a bite! My sister, Bethany, yelled "It's a girl!" before anyone else could get it out! There was lots of excitment!

Immediately everyone wanted to know her name. We revealed her name would be...

EMORY ELIZABETH

Although we had a few favorites, we hadn't really talked about girl names much because we just knew it would be a boy. We loved the name Emory and Elizabeth went well with it and it's my middle name so we were set!

It's a Baby....

GIRL!!!!!

At our 3rd OB appointment I was 15 weeks 6 days. I knew if we did a sonogram at this point (assuming baby cooperated) we could find out the sex. I wasn't scheduled for a sonogram that day but thought I would ask my Doctor nicely if we could get a sneak peak. I had kind of prepared myself for him to say no so I wouldn't be disappointed if he did but he ended up having no problem with it! For starters John and I thought from the very beginning this baby was a boy. So much so we called it by the boy name we had picked out, ha! There was no real reason why we thought that, we both just pictured our first being a little boy, but of coarse didn't care either way! When the sono tech said it's a girl I almost fell off the table and John's face was priceless!
They did the majority of the anatomy scan but she was such an active little thing (and it was a bit early) they couldn't see her cord very well or get a good picture of her face. They told me I could come back around 18 weeks for another scan which was fine with me! Here are some pictures from both scans. The first one is from 15w6d and the rest are 18w1d.

We are SO excited about this sweet little girl and can't wait to see what she has in store for us!
